Amazing that
I was back on the bike --just a couple of hours earlier common sense had
said my rally was over. It truly was a blessing
...but not all was good. I was tired, had lost a lot of fluid and the running around of the last 6hours was emotionally draining. |
Taking inventory of the situation:
I had lost any chance at being competitive in this rally. 6hours of no motion had blown my game plan. In addition, missing the checkpoint would not only cost me points, but I would be penalized points. The swing was huge. This was BAD | |
The last 6 hours had been emotionally and physically draining. And I was concerned about dehydration as the hours of frantic work in Frank's shop had cost me a lot of fluid. And, it was now pushing 110F with many hours of heavy heat to go. This was BAD | |
I had been on a very brisk pace before this incident, and plenty of time remaining --I could still be a finisher if I logged the miles! This was GOOD | |
I had a fresh pack of "Whores R Us" bonus cards ready to use ......and why not?, what better chance would I ever have to go whore chasin'? This was GOOD |
My bike's hydration thing holds 1/2 gallon and I filled it and threw another 1/2 gallon in my topcase.
And then I went Chasin' brothels. Two heavy point brothels were just around the corner:
Spent $25K
here!
And and another
$25K here!
Then up to Crystal USA ...hotter than hell but more money spent
Crystal Nevada
really is a special place where you should bring the family for a week's
vacation.
And the last
of the southern big money whorehouses. The northern ones were
not nearly as valuable.
Somewhere around 111F here in Amargosa Valley. I bought another Gallon of water and continued my focus on hydration
During this hot riding I had zipped my Aerostich vents closed. It would have been more comfortable to have the vents wide open, but I knew doing so would suck the water out of me. Instead I let air come up my sleeves and everything else was closed. It was not comfortable, I was a pressure cooker of sorts, but at least I was keeping in as much fluid as possible and it wasn't getting sucked out in the hot wind. |
Brilliant
skylines as I cruised north ...
Of all the
planets to ride, Earth is the best, no doubt.
Quick stop
to transfer water and to take in the groovy sky. Not a bonus,
but I pretended it was.
Familiar
site: Kit Kat Ranch whorehouse. Could
only spend $10K here -ditto for all the northern ranches.
Fuel in Hawthorne ....and a nice surprise:
Chris P!
Nice to see you ....Hope you're having a good rally. Always
fun to see other riders and I put on my happy face.
LOL,
riding up and down and indian cemetery in Schurze USA ....finally captured
the cemetery plot I needed. Jeeze, no doubt woke up a few dead
indians on this bonus attempt. glad to finally get it.
Too Easy
bonuses in Winnemucca: Butch Cassidys. BTW, I ran into
the Sperrys at the Whorehouse. The Villa Joy was not allowing
folks to take pics so I got a receipt and then over to the Mineshaft bar
where I got the below picture:
To show my
appreciation to rally staff, --->on
Nevada rallies I typically bring back some booby pictures.
Everyone loves boobies so why not?
-----> Well on this rally I was not very selective and also short on time so perhaps not all the boobies here are as pretty as your boobies ...... BUT: These girls were GREAT sports to allow their pictures to be taken so show some respect and appreciation. Anyone who says anything bad about these girls or their boobies will get a punch in the face from RenoJohn. Promise. |
Winnemucca
USA
Of course
rally hat must be in all pictures ---rally rulez ya know.
This battered
gal is actually the bartender at the Goldmine -A very
gritty biker bar in Winnemucca
She's also
from Ely and hopes her dad doesn't see this picture.
Battle Mountain
USA
Carlin USA
Dove Tail Ranch whorehouse
Elko USA
Inez's Whorehouse
Elko USA
Wells USA
I then went to Wendover to pad my miles a bit .....the most important thing for me was to make sure I had more than enough miles to be a finisher. Then back to Rally HQ:
Last bonus
..the Big Four Ranch whorehouse Ely USA
And as I
was leaving, Wendy Crocket arrives!
First phase of scoring was to get all potential bonuses accepted. So pictures etc were checked and then each bonus was signed off on (or not) I did this with Steve Hobart and I think he blushed at some of the extracurricular boobie pics. I had nothing refused -but I did not balance as well as I thought and ended up not using quite a few negative boni on the actual scoring.
While I was very proud that I was able to finish this rally considering the obstacles I had overcome, ...scoring would be not be a proud moment, I really wanted to do well in this rally. Tom was great. Professional, fair, courteous, respectful. I very much appreciate that. --it wouldn't have taken much to make me cry at this point :-) Thanks from Reno. |
And then time
for some socializing and such .........
Eventually
a tiny nap and then over to the awards banquet:
Jeff Earls
had run a brilliant rally. I was actually glad to see how huge
his score was --->as even if I had done everything I wanted ....uhhh, I
would not have been at the level Jeff was. Truly amazing
..GREAT job Jeff!!
Mr. Wendy
Crocket. Mike is awesome and along with Wendy some great stories
were shared. I've really taken a liking to this pair and Wendy
sure has an amazing tenure of motobike fun. Thanks for all
the great fun on this night Wendy and Mike!
Something
learned on every rally ...and for Tom the lesson was:
Never tell
RenoJohn what room you're staying in. Uhhh, or even the what hotel
on the way to the Rally.
Linda and
Brad .....again the nice people sticking together.
Wendy holding
Court. If Wendy tells a story, it is worth listening to.
And before going out on a late night of Ely-style debauchery ....I roamed the streets and took a few pictures:
Matt had
run an amazing rally ......over 2000miles and 2nd place behind Jeff.
GREAT job Matt!!
It is easy for me to be disappointed in my result, but the fact of the matter is that I'm lucky I wasn't stuck in Pahrump for a few days And, meeting and spending time with Frank is a memory I'll never forget -amazing what can happen when out having fun on moto-bikes.
Thanks for the ride-along ....John
